I'm not a guide but a rancher here in North Eastern Washington state. I
own a 980 acre cattle ranch and my two boys are my hunting partners. We
spend all summer dealing with hay, sawing lumber, building corrals, adding
onto our houses, building fences, horseback riding and lots of volunteering
as a 4-H leader, conservation district director, State Game advisory board,
hunter safety instructor, parade secretary and cook whole hogs for weddings
and fund raisers. I'd tell you more I do but you probably wouldn't believe
me. We keep about 50 head of cattle and raise a few hogs. I've been hunting
cougars since about 1975 with hounds.
I moved here in 1973 from Ruidoso, New Mexico where I got a B.S. degree in Wildlife Biology. I hunted with my
older brother Tom for several years with his hounds before I finally got my
own. The voters eliminated hound hunting for cougar, bear and bobcat in
1996 in this state so since then I volunteer to catch problem lions for the
State Game Dept. The problems have increased so much they opened up 5
counties to cougar hunting by drawing for hound hunters only. I get plenty
of chances to work my hounds.
I started videoing my hunts about 12 yrs. ago
and have put together some of the best ones for folks to enjoy. It's just
like any other type of hunting in that a lot of your hunts are nothing
special and I got lots of footage of that. I only show you the most exciting
of all my hunts. I'm presently working on a 4th video but hopefully I don't
have to spend 300 hrs. at the computer making it or you won't see it for a
year or so. I am just more than happy to be able to let folks see what we
get to see and hopefully you will enjoy these hunts as much as we did.
